Maxime Trijol XO is a 40% ABV, 750mL XO cognac from the family house at Saint-Martial-sur-Né, France — the XO of the house's Grand Classic range, blended from eaux-de-vie drawn from several of Cognac's crus. By law the youngest eau-de-vie in an XO blend has aged at least ten years, and Trijol states it ages beyond the legal minimums. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Classic XO of a Grower-Distiller House

Six generations of the Trijol family have distilled at Saint-Martial-sur-Né since the first still was installed in 1859, and the house still grows its own grapes, distils on the lees in 22 Charentais pot stills and ages in French oak. The Grand Classic XO is its mature multi-cru statement: a floral bouquet that opens into spice and richness, blended for aromatic harmony rather than single-cru intensity — for the single-cru bottling, see the separate Grande Champagne XO. Compare grades across our cognac collection, or on the Maxime Trijol vendor page.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Amber with mahogany flashes in the glass; a floral bouquet — iris and jasmine — with hazelnut, vanilla and wood spice. Palate: Silky and fully matured; flower and fruit marmalade with mellowed wood, caramel and tangy mixed peel. Finish: Medium-to-long, toasty and harmonious.

How to Enjoy

Neat in a tulip or balloon glass, given a few minutes to open — this is a contemplative after-dinner pour that needs no ice and no mixer.

Where is Maxime Trijol XO made? In Saint-Martial-sur-Né, Charente, France, by a family house that grows its own grapes and distils in Charentais pot stills, as it has since 1859.
