Maxime Trijol VSOP Grand Champagne
Maxime Trijol VSOP Grande Champagne is a 40% ABV, 750mL cognac made exclusively from eaux-de-vie grown in the Grande Champagne — the Premier Cru of Cognac, France. The VSOP grade guarantees a youngest eau-de-vie of at least four years, but this blend carries a large proportion of eaux-de-vie aged ten to twenty years, giving it a maturity well beyond the VSOP floor. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

A VSOP Built Like an XO
Most VSOPs hug the four-year legal minimum; Trijol's Grande Champagne VSOP does the opposite, folding a large share of ten-to-twenty-year-old Premier Cru eaux-de-vie into the blend — an average around fifteen years is often reported for it. The raw material explains the ambition: Grande Champagne's chalk soils grow the longest-lived eaux-de-vie in Cognac, and the Trijol family grows, distils, ages and bottles its own at Saint-Martial-sur-Ne, where its first still was installed in 1859. It took Gold at the International Spirits Challenge in 2016. Set it against the Classic multi-cru VSOP in our cognac collection, or explore the house on the Maxime Trijol vendor page.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Vanilla, spice and dried fruit, developing apricot and oak. Palate: Well-structured, mellow and rich — orchard fruit and ripe peach with refined oak and a light, elegant touch. Finish: Baking spice with a little tickle of spirit; golden yellow in the glass.
How to Enjoy
Serve neat at 20–25°C in a tulip glass; it is also one of the few VSOPs worth building a Sidecar on, where the Premier Cru fruit stays in front.
Frequently Asked Questions
How old is Maxime Trijol VSOP Grande Champagne? VSOP law requires the youngest eau-de-vie to be at least four years old. This blend includes a large proportion of eaux-de-vie aged ten to twenty years, and an average around fifteen years is often reported.
Is this the same as the Maxime Trijol Classic VSOP? No. This bottling is 100% Grande Champagne, the Premier Cru; the Classic VSOP blends eaux-de-vie from multiple crus.
Why does the title say "Grand Champagne"? That is the store title's spelling; the cru's correct name is Grande Champagne, and the cognac in the bottle is entirely from that Premier Cru.
