Maraska Orahovac Liqueur is the commercial bottling of Croatia's traditional household walnut liqueur: a macerate of unripe green walnuts from Dalmatian-coast farms, filtered and blended with water, sugar, and spirit — with no artificial colors or flavorings. Kosher-certified, 750mL — available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

Maraska of Zadar carries centuries of Dalmatian liqueur-making tradition — the house is best known for its maraschino — and claims Orahovac is the only liqueur on the market still made the traditional way, from green walnuts, as Croatian households have done for centuries. In Croatia it is a staple household liqueur, historically consumed as a remedy for stomach, liver, and blood ailments and served as an aperitif or digestif, traditionally well-chilled, pure, or over ice. It took a Silver medal at the 2022 International Spirits Challenge and the 2025 London Spirits Competition.

Tasting notes: dark mahogany in colour; a nose of toasted walnut, vanilla, caramel, and delicate baking spice with roasted-nut and citrus aromas; a palate of rich walnut, chocolate, honey, nutmeg, subtle herbal tones, and a faint balancing bitterness; a clean, persistent finish with gentle spice.

Why buy Maraska Orahovac? Because it is the real thing — Croatia's centuries-old walnut liqueur tradition in a kosher, additive-free commercial bottling from one of Zadar's oldest houses. Browse the Maraska brand collection, more liqueurs, and other European spirits.

Serving note: well-chilled, neat or over ice, the traditional Croatian way; it also adds depth to winter cocktails.
