~48% ABV (batch-varying) | 750mL | 100% Espadín (Agave angustifolia) | Green Tape | uncertified destilado de agave — Mal Bien Green Tape Espadin Ramos is the house pour of the Miahuatlán lineup: family-grown espadín from 3rd/4th-generation palenqueros Victor and Emanuel Ramos, raised on the family's own land around their ranch in Mengolí de Morelos, Miahuatlán, Oaxaca — one of Oaxaca's great centers of high-toned, characterful mezcal. Available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor in San Diego, CA.

Green Tape is Mal Bien's core uncertified line: pure, uncut with water, labeled legally as "spirits distilled from agave" — bottled in the green-masking-tape-and-sharpie style like the founders' own travel bottles ("suitcase mezcal"). Official production: 15-ton pit, 6 days, encino/guamuche/mesquite wood; 5–7 day rest; tahona mill; sabino and oak fermentation tanks with well water, 3–8 day fermentation; two distillations in 275-liter copper alambiques con refrescadera; adjusted with puntas y colas only. The style reads bright, herbal, with roasted-agave sweetness, mineral backbone, and rustic Miahuatlán earthiness — keep it neat or over one cube. Among agave spirits, this is the entry-level Miahuatlán pour done right: no corners cut, no water added.

Frequently asked questions

What does "Green Tape" mean?
Mal Bien's core uncertified line — bottles carry a strip of green masking tape with hand-written details instead of a printed label, in the style of the founders' travel bottles.

Is it mezcal?
Colloquially yes; legally it is uncertified, labeled "spirits distilled from agave" (destilado de agave).

Who makes it?
Victor and Emanuel Ramos, Mengolí de Morelos, Miahuatlán, Oaxaca.

How is it different from the Ramirez espadín?
Different district, different family: Ramos is Miahuatlán, ranch-scale production, rustic/mineral style; the Ramirez is Ejutla, farmer-first part-timer, bright/aggressive style.
