Extra Anejo Tequila | 750mL | 40% ABV (80 proof) | Aged 3+ Years — Maestro Dobel Atelier Endemic Animals 2024 is a collectible extra anejo presented in a hand-painted bottle: six Oaxacan artisan alebrije designs, each depicting an endemic Mexican species — axolotl, jaguar, monarch butterfly, dwarf jay, Tamaulipas owl, and Mexican wolf — honoring Mexico's biodiversity and ecological heritage. The 2024 "Animales Endemicos" edition is the third U.S. installment of the ongoing Dobel Atelier series. Available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor in San Diego, CA.

The liquid inside is serious: extra anejo aged a minimum of three years in NEW American and European oak barrels — most extra anejos rest in used barrels, so the new oak here is a genuine differentiator, delivering dark amber depth. Nose: agave, chocolate, walnut, prune. Palate: well-rounded warm wood, ripe fruit, and robust agave — full-bodied and built for neat sipping (official release via stupidDOPE). Distilled at La Rojena (NOM 1122) in Tequila, Jalisco, from the Maestro Dobel brand of Proximo Spirits (Beckmann/Cuervo family).

Tasting notes

Color: dark amber. Nose: agave, chocolate, walnut, prune (official notes). Palate: warm wood, ripe fruit, robust agave — rich and smooth with toasted almonds and sweet oak (retailer). Finish: long, elegant, balanced.
