Maestro Dobel 50 Tequila Extra Anejo Cristalino is the house's birthday bottling — 40% ABV (80 proof), 750mL, certified-organic 100% Blue Weber agave from the single family estate in the volcanic lowlands of Tequila, Jalisco, aged a minimum of three years in American and Eastern European oak barrels and charcoal-filtered to perfect clarity, created to celebrate founder Juan Domingo Beckmann Legorreta's 50th birthday. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

An Extra Anejo You Can See Through

Dobel invented cristalino with Diamante in 2008; Dobel 50 takes the idea to its limit. The liquid is a true extra anejo — organic estate agave, a minimum of three years across American and Eastern European oak — made for the founder's 50th birthday, and then charcoal-filtered until it pours perfectly clear with steel and platinum reflections, every dried-fruit, tobacco and spice note of the ageing still in place. It is a single extra anejo, not a blend of classes, and it sits in a different world from the dark, wine-finished Anniversary Series bottlings that share the "50" name. Experience it from our tequila shelves and the extra anejo tequila collection, or browse the house on the Maestro Dobel vendor page.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Caramel, honey and cooked agave with dried fig and quince, hints of chocolate, tobacco and sweets, and lingering vanilla and nutmeg (brand notes). Palate: Voluminous and silky — fig, quince, date, pineapple and pumpkin with cinnamon, vanilla and clove. Finish: Long and pleasant, smooth, silky and sweet.

How to Enjoy

Neat, at room temperature, in a wide glass — pour it blind for a friend and watch them guess the age from the colour. This is a contemplation bottle, not a mixer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is it called "50"? It was created in honour of founder Juan Domingo Beckmann Legorreta's 50th birthday — he was born in 1967, the year the companion Anniversary Series takes its name from.

How can an extra anejo be clear? Charcoal filtration after ageing removes the colour the oak imparted while maintaining the flavour characteristics the oak built — the official process for this bottling.

Is it the same as the Dobel 50 Anniversary Series? No. The Anniversary Series bottlings (1967, 1968, 1969, 1970 and others) are dark, unfiltered, wine-cask-finished vintage extra anejos at a far higher tier. This is the clear Cristalino — a separate expression sharing only the "50" name and its birthday origin.
