Louis Jadot Pommard Pinot Noir is a 750mL red Burgundy from the village of Pommard in the Cote de Beaune, France, made from 100% Pinot Noir. Per Jadot's own vineyard note, the grapes are handpicked and sorted, given a long maceration, partly aged in French oak and bottled without fining or filtration — the recipe behind Pommard's reputation as the Cote de Beaune's firmest, most structured village wine. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Cote de Beaune's Firmest Village Wine

Pommard sits between Volnay and Beaune, and its clay-rich soils give Pinot Noir a depth and backbone quite unlike its silky neighbour Volnay. Maison Louis Jadot, founded in Beaune in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, is Burgundy's benchmark negociant-producer, and its village Pommard is the house's classic take on the appellation: fruit depth and firm tannin, rounded by a proportion of French oak. Tasting Notes

Nose: Raspberry-led red fruit, per Jadot's winemaker note. Palate: Firm and full-bodied yet round and generous, with fruity depth underpinned by structure. Finish: Full and ripe, carried by Pommard's characteristic tannins.

How to Enjoy

Jadot's own pairing guidance points to strongly flavoured dishes — hare and other small game, pheasant, beef or entrecote braised in wine — and strong cheeses such as Epoisses, Livarot and Pont l'Eveque. The house suggests drinking it now or within about ten years of the vintage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a Premier Cru Pommard? No. This is Jadot's village-level Pommard. Jadot also bottles separate Premier Cru cuvees from climats such as Clos de la Commaraine and Grands Epenots, with different specs and cellaring guidance.

What grape is Pommard made from? Pommard is always 100% Pinot Noir — red Burgundy from the Cote de Beaune is single-variety Pinot Noir, and Jadot's note confirms it here.

How is it made? Per Jadot's vineyard note: handpicked and sorted grapes, a long maceration, a proportion of the wine aged in French oak barrels, and bottling without fining or filtration.
