Lapis Reposado Tequila is a 750mL reposado bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof), made from 100% Tequilana Weber agave grown in Los Altos, Jalisco, distilled at La Tequilena (NOM 1146) in the town of Tequila, and aged twelve months in French oak barrels — the very top of the reposado class. It is the work of master distiller Enrique Fonseca, the "El Arquitecto" of the brand's story, whose highland agave the brand's copy places at around 5,200 feet around Atotonilco el Alto. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Rested Expression of a Highland Design

Lapis builds its range on one maker and one agave source: Enrique Fonseca, a fifth-generation grower from Atotonilco el Alto in the Jalisco Highlands, distilling his highland agave at La Tequilena in the valley town of Tequila. The reposado is where that design meets oak — a full twelve months in French oak barrels, longer than most reposados rest, giving a structured, medium-light tequila that keeps the agave soft and sweet under fruit, flowers and spice. It sits between the blanco's brightness and the anejo's depth in the range. See both aged expressions on the Lapis Tequila vendor page and in our tequila collection.

Tasting Notes

The importer's sell sheet describes a crystalline amber reposado: fruit, spice, cherry, pear, apple, citric flower and anise on the aroma, with a touch of pepper and orange peel; soft, sweet agave on the palate with fruit, flower, sweet spice and a coffee-like note.

How to Enjoy

Neat or over a large cube to show the oak; it also makes a rich Paloma or a reposado Margarita with real barrel character. More reposado is in our tequila collection.
