Lapis Anejo Tequila
Lapis Anejo Tequila is a 750mL anejo bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof), made from 100% Tequilana Weber agave grown in Los Altos, Jalisco, and distilled at La Tequilena (NOM 1146) in the town of Tequila. It is the work of master distiller Enrique Fonseca — the "El Arquitecto" of the brand's story, a fifth-generation agave grower from Atotonilco el Alto — and is aged two to three years in oak barrels; the importer, Terranova Spirits, states three years old. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

Built Like Its Maker's Name
Lapis presents its tequila as an architect's work, and the architect has a name: Enrique Fonseca, a fifth-generation agave cultivator from Atotonilco el Alto who runs La Tequilena in the town of Tequila while holding extensive highland agave fields — highland-grown agave, distilled in the valley. The production follows his house pattern as recorded by Agave Matchmaker: low-pressure autoclave cooking, double distillation in a copper pot still, and a long oak rest of two to three years, well past the anejo minimum. One honest complication: sources disagree on the barrel wood for this expression — Matchmaker records American white oak, while the brand's older copy says French oak — so the wood is flagged on this page rather than asserted. Tasting Notes
The importer's sell sheet describes a deep amber anejo with golden clarity: an elegant, complex aroma of fruit, spice, anise, cherry, acacia, jasmine, apple, citrus and hazelnut; smooth agave on the palate, lightly wooded with a smoked note; and a balanced, harmonic finish.
How to Enjoy
Straight at room temperature, as the importer positions it, or over a single cube; the age and complexity also carry an anejo Old Fashioned. More aged tequila is in our tequila collection and across our spirits collection.
