Booker Noe's Pre-Prohibition-Style Bourbon, Restored to 9 Years
Knob Creek was created in 1992 by Booker Noe — sixth-generation Beam master distiller and Jim Beam's grandson — as part of the Small Batch Bourbon Collection, with a deliberate brief: revive the full-flavored, pre-Prohibition style of bourbon, distilled at a lower proof, aged a full 9 years, and bottled at 100 proof. The brand is named for the creek that ran near Abraham Lincoln's childhood home in Kentucky. The 9-year age statement was dropped for a period during a barrel shortage and restored in 2020; the Noe family still stewards the brand today. Find the range on the Knob Creek vendor page and in our bourbon whiskey collection.
Tasting Notes
Per the producer: sweet vanilla, brown sugar and hints of charred oak on the aroma; a full-bodied palate of caramel, vanilla, charred oak and subtle fruit; copper, medium-amber in the glass; and a lingering finish of charred oak and brown sugar.
How to Enjoy
Neat, with a few drops of water, or over a large cube — and at 100 proof it stands up in a Classic Old Fashioned (the brand's own featured serve) or a Manhattan. More small-batch bourbons are in our whisky collection.
