The First Uncut Knob Creek
In 1992, Booker Noe introduced Knob Creek as the flagship of the Small Batch Collection — and 25 years later, his son Fred celebrated the milestone by doing something the brand had never done: bottling it straight from the barrel. Around 300 exceptional barrels, aged 12 to 13 years, were selected and bottled uncut and unfiltered at full strength, each one a genuinely unique expression of the milestone. It was a landmark release — full-proof, deeply charred, and unrepeatable — and it paved the way for the cask-strength and single-barrel releases that followed. Collectors treat it as the bottle that changed what Knob Creek could be.
Tasting Notes
Nose: robust vanilla and caramel with a smoky undercurrent, rich oak, well-worn leather, and toasted grain. Palate: full-bodied — deep vanilla sweetness giving way to dark chocolate, baking spice and cinnamon from the rye, apple, tobacco, and a surprising nuttiness. Finish: long and warming with smoky tobacco and cinnamon, fading into dry oak tannins.
How to Enjoy
Neat first, to meet the full barrel-proof character — then a few drops of water, which Knob Creek's high proof rewards handsomely. This is a trophy pour: share it with someone who knows what Booker built.
