Kenwood's Reserve Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Kenwood Vineyards was established in 1970 at the site of the former Pagani Brothers Winery in Kenwood, in the Sonoma Valley — a historic cellar built in 1906 — when John Sheela and his brothers-in-law Mike and Marty Lee converted a jug-wine facility into a modern premium winery. The winery later passed through Korbel and then Pernod Ricard ownership. Its Reserve Pinot Noir drew on the Russian River Valley, where Pacific fog keeps Pinot Noir ripening slow and acidity high, and was made as the top tier of the house's Pinot Noir programme before the designation was retired from the current range. See Kenwood's current wines on the Kenwood Vineyards vendor page and more California Pinot Noir in our red wine collection.
Tasting Notes
Producer-style notes carried for the Reserve describe fruity blackberry and currant aromas with baking spice, vanilla, and forest-floor notes, a rich mouthfeel and elegant tannins, and a long finish — a fuller, darker-fruited style of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. (Reserve notes varied by vintage; treat these as indicative of the line.)
How to Enjoy
Serve at 14–16°C in a large Burgundy glass. Pair with roast duck, salmon, mushroom risotto, pork tenderloin, or charcuterie. More Sonoma bottles are in our wine collection.
