Four Named Malts, Fifteen Years, No Grain
Green Label began life as "Pure Malt" before a 2004 rename, was withdrawn in 2012, and returned in 2016 with its recipe unchanged. The blend is built around four brand-confirmed single malts — Talisker from Skye for maritime smoke, Caol Ila from Islay for depth, and Cragganmore and Linkwood from Speyside for fruit and elegance — each matured in American and European oak for a minimum of 15 years. It occupies a rare niche: a blended malt from the world's best-selling Scotch whisky house, offering single-malt character with the roundness only careful blending delivers. Tasting Notes
The nose opens with crisp cut grass and fresh fruit, over wood smoke, pepper, deep vanilla and sandalwood. The palate is broad and layered — all the character of a good single malt with wider flavor development from the four-malt marriage. The finish is long, lightly smoky, with lingering spice.
How to Enjoy
Pour it neat or over a large ice cube to let the fruit and smoke unfold. Its 15-year maturity also stands up beautifully in a Scotch highball with quality soda water and a lemon twist.
