Paso Robles, in the Family's Two Signature Grapes
J. Lohr has been family owned since 1974, and its first wine was a Petite Sirah — which is why Pure Paso, launched with the 2017 vintage, marries that variety's dark, inky fruit to Cabernet Sauvignon structure. The Cabernet comes largely from the Shotwell Vineyard in Paso Robles' El Pomar District, the Petite Sirah from the warmer Estrella and San Miguel Districts, and the proportions shift each year with the harvest. Find it in our red wine range, browse the wider wine shelf, or visit the J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines vendor page.
Tasting Notes
Character (producer, consistent across vintage pages): Savory Cabernet character layered with dark Petite Sirah fruit; a bouquet of cocoa powder, caramel and anise with a black cherry signature; a bright, focused palate and a firm, appetizing finish.
How to Enjoy
Serve at 60–65°F with grilled tri-tip, lamb chops or a sharp aged cheddar. An hour in a decanter helps younger vintages open; the Petite Sirah backbone also makes it a strong cellar candidate over the medium term.
