Green Point Chardonnay 2005
Green Point Chardonnay 2005 is a 750mL Chardonnay from the Yarra Valley, Victoria, bottled under Green Point — the still-wine label of Domaine Chandon Australia — from the 2005 vintage. The label itself is now retired, which makes a sound bottle of its cool-climate Chardonnay a small piece of Australian wine history. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Still-Wine Label of Chandon's Yarra Valley House
When California's Domaine Chandon planted in Victoria's cool Yarra Valley in the 1980s, the sparkling program came first — but the estate's still wines were bottled under a second name: Green Point, taken from the Greenpoint Boulevard address at Coldstream. For roughly three decades Green Point was the valley house's still-wine identity, built on cool-climate Chardonnay, before the label was folded back into Chandon around 2015. This 2005 is a bottle from that run. Find it among our wine shelves, see the label on the Green Point vendor page, or set it beside a Washington contemporary, Columbia Crest Chardonnay 2014.
Tasting Notes
Typical character of the label: Yarra Valley Chardonnay in the cool-climate frame — citrus and white stone fruit with a lees-textured, lightly oaked register typical of the label's still wines (no 2005 winemaking sheet exists; see the applier flags). At this age: expect a mature, golden, settled wine rather than primary fruit — a drink-now bottle, and very much a condition-dependent one.
How to Enjoy
Stand it upright before opening, pour gently, and serve around 50°F. Drink it the day it is opened, with roast chicken, mushrooms or aged cheddar — and treat it as the occasion it is: a retired label's mature Chardonnay does not come around often.
