Billy Walker's GlenAllachie

For most of its life after its 1967 founding, GlenAllachie was a workhorse malt for blends, almost never seen under its own name. That changed in 2017, when a consortium led by Billy Walker — the distiller behind the modern GlenDronach and BenRiach revivals — bought the distillery, and in July 2018 launched a core range of single malts built on his legendary feel for sherry casks. The 18 Year Old is the range's elder statesman: whisky that slumbered on site for eighteen years, married from PX, Oloroso and American oak casks only when Walker judged it at its peak. Tasting Notes

Toffee sauce, cinnamon spice and fresh vanilla pods on the nose, with cocoa, honeycomb and cherries. The palate bursts with marzipan, sultanas and rich dark chocolate, leading to wild honey, maraschino cherries and buttercream, and a long, warming finish.
