Glen Grant 25 Year Old Scotch Whisky is a 46% ABV, 750mL Speyside single malt from Rothes, Scotland — matured for a quarter of a century in American oak ex-bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry casks in traditional stone dunnage warehouses, bottled with natural colour and non-chill filtered. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

The 25 Year Old belongs to Glen Grant's Glasshouse Collection — alongside the 21 and 30 Year Old, the oldest aged expressions in the distillery's permanent portfolio — inspired by the Victorian glasshouse James "The Major" Grant built in 1886 to house exotic plants from his travels. The collection follows a daylight cycle, and the 25 Year Old is its "golden hour": the last release overseen by Master Distiller Dennis Malcolm OBE, whose tall-still, light-and-fruity Glen Grant style is here deepened by 25 years of slow maturation.

Tasting profile (distillery notes): bright gold in colour; bright citrus fruits, boiled sweets and hard candy on the nose; a velvety palate of dark chocolate, zesty orange rind, rich oak and nutmeg; an enduring finish of warm spices with a faint hint of soft smoke. Serving note: pour neat in a tulip glass and let it open slowly; a few drops of water lengthen the dark chocolate and orange rind. A whisky for the end of the evening — and the top shelf.
