An Ambassador's Patience, From a Family Estate
Embajador means "ambassador," and the Supreme is the bottle the house sends out to represent it. The family distillery in Atotonilco El Alto works its own highland agave — red clay soils, spring water, plants left 8 to 10 years to mature — cooking it two ways, part in traditional adobe brick ovens and part in autoclave, before double distillation. Eighteen months in American and French oak does the rest, and the result took Gold at the 2014 SIP Awards. Meet the rest of the house on the Embajador vendor page, compare its younger sibling Embajador Premium Reposado, or browse the full tequila shelf.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Sweet cooked agave with caramel, vanilla and coffee, plus fruit and spice. Palate: Full-bodied and velvety — agave, vanilla and spice in balance. Finish: Long, the agave and vanilla-spice trading places to the end.
How to Enjoy
Pour it neat in a wide glass and give it a few minutes — this is a sipping anejo, not a shooter. A single large cube opens the fruit and coffee notes if you prefer it chilled.
