El Tesoro Blanco Tequila
El Tesoro Blanco Tequila is a 750mL unaged blanco bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof), made from 100% highland blue Weber agave at La Altena distillery in Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico (NOM 1139). The agave is cooked in stone ovens, crushed by a two-ton volcanic stone tahona, fermented with its fibers in wooden tanks and double-distilled in copper pot stills, then bottled immediately after distillation — distilled essentially to proof, so the minerality of La Altena's soil and deep well water carries straight into the glass. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Traditional Blanco, Bottled Straight Off the Still
El Tesoro means "the treasure," and the Blanco is the purest statement of why La Altena matters: one of the last tequilas made entirely by the traditional method, with no barrel between the still and the bottle to soften its agave character. Specialist retailer Sip Tequila records a Double Gold at the 2022 San Francisco Spirits Competition and 96 points with the Chairman's Trophy at the 2022 Ultimate Spirits Challenge for this blanco (see applier flag on sourcing). Tasting Notes
Per the brand: crystal clear, with fresh agave, honey and a touch of green olive on the nose; sweet, balanced agave with white pepper and subtle green notes on the palate; a sweet finish with white pepper.
How to Enjoy
Neat for the full tahona character, or in a Margarita or Paloma built on a blanco with real structure. More blancos are in our spirits collection.
