Dos Armadillos Plata Tequila is a 750mL blanco bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof) — "Plata" is the brand's name for its silver: 100% Blue Weber agave from Amatitan, Jalisco, matured at least eight years before harvest, distilled and bottled with zero months of barrel aging, in the range's handcrafted green-tinted crystal bottle with its artisanal medallion and braided rope neck. With no oak in the way, this is the range's purest read on valley agave. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Range With Nothing Hidden

Every Dos Armadillos expression starts the same way — Blue Weber agave from Amatitan in the Tequila Valley, left at least eight years to reach full sugar — and the Plata is where you taste that starting point undisturbed: no barrel, no colour, no rest, just the distilled spirit of slow-grown valley agave presented in the brand's artisan bottle. The brand reports a Silver for the Plata at the 2012 Spirits of Mexico tasting competition, judged blind across 113 entries. When you want to see what the oak adds, the six-month Reposado and 18-month Anejo are the same spirit after time in wood — find all three on the Dos Armadillos vendor page and in our tequila collection.

Tasting Notes

Per the brand's own notes: clear and brilliant in the glass; a subtle floral and citrus aroma over freshly cooked agave; a rich, silky, full body; a smooth, clean palate with vanilla and spiced undertones balanced by pear and banana; and a clean, warm finish of hazelnut with a bright aftertaste.

How to Enjoy

Sipped neat at room temperature it shows its agave; in a Margarita or Ranch Water it brings real blanco character instead of neutral filler. More blancos are in our tequila collection and across our spirits collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Plata the same as blanco tequila?
Yes — plata, silver and blanco are the same class: tequila bottled unaged after distillation. Dos Armadillos' own copy labels this bottle "Plata (Silver) 0 month aging," and it is classified and tagged here as a blanco.

Where does the agave come from?
Amatitan, in the Tequila Valley of Jalisco, Mexico — valley-floor agave matured at least eight years before harvest, distilled at NOM 1558 (Premium de Jalisco).

Has Dos Armadillos Plata won anything?
The brand reports a Silver medal for the Plata at the 6th Annual Spirits of Mexico tasting competition in 2012, judged blind across 113 entries.
