Dos Armadillos Anejo Tequila is a 750mL anejo bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof) — 100% Blue Weber agave from Amatitan, Jalisco, the agave matured at least eight years before harvest, then aged 18 months in oak before bottling in a handcrafted, green-tinted crystal bottle with an artisanal medallion and a braided rope at the neck. It is the oak-aged step of the core Dos Armadillos range, made at NOM 1558 in the Tequila Valley. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

Valley Agave, Eighteen Months of Oak

Dos Armadillos takes its agave from Amatitan — one of the historic tequila towns of the valley floor, not the highlands — and lets it grow a full eight years or more before harvest, a slow start the brand builds its whole range on. For the Anejo, the distilled spirit then rests 18 months in oak, long enough to turn golden-amber and trade raw agave brightness for honey, vanilla and dried fruit, while the liquid stays recognisably tequila. The bottle is part of the proposition: handcrafted crystal with a green tint, a medallion at its centre and rope braided around the neck, made by Mexican artisans. The brand reports a Silver for this Anejo at the 2012 Spirits of Mexico competition, and a 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition Double Gold for the Anejo has been reported in press roundups of that year's results. See the Plata and Reposado siblings on the Dos Armadillos vendor page and in our tequila collection.

Tasting Notes

Per the brand's own notes: a golden-amber colour; a balanced aroma of oak and cooked agave with honey and vanilla prominent; a rich, silky body; and a palate of delicate spice and vanilla leading to a long finish of dried fruit and oak.

How to Enjoy

Neat in a stemmed glass, where 18 months of oak and valley agave can both speak — also a luxurious base for a tequila Old Fashioned. More aged tequilas are in our tequila collection and across our spirits collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is Dos Armadillos Anejo aged?
Eighteen months in oak — comfortably inside the anejo band of one to three years. The "eight years" in the brand's story is the age of the agave plants at harvest, not the spirit's age.

Where is Dos Armadillos made?
From 100% Blue Weber agave grown around Amatitan in the Tequila Valley of Jalisco, Mexico, and distilled at NOM 1558 (Premium de Jalisco).

What does the bottle look like?
A handcrafted crystal bottle with a green tint, an artisanal medallion at its centre and a braided rope around the neck — each bottle is an artisan piece in the brand's presentation.

Eighteen months of oak over slow-grown valley agave — order Dos Armadillos Anejo Tequila online from Del Mesa Liquor in San Diego, CA.
