Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA is a 6.0% ABV (60 IBU) IPA in a 6-pack of 12oz, brewed by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in Milton, Delaware — continuously hopped with Northwest hops for one full hour, the technique that made it the East Coast's defining IPA. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Beer That Invented Continual Hopping

In 2003 Sam Calagione rigged a vibrating football game over the brew kettle so hops would shake loose steadily, all through the boil — and 60 Minute IPA was born: instead of one or two hop additions, Northwest hops rain in continuously for sixty minutes. The result rewired what an IPA could be — hop flavor in layers rather than a single bitter blast — and became Dogfish Head's flagship and the East Coast's answer to the West Coast IPA wars. Browse more craft beer, see the brewery on the Dogfish Head Brewing vendor page, or line it up against an Oregon counterpart, Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Citrus and pine with candied citrus rind and floral notes, per the brewery's classic tasting copy. Palate: Assertive citrus-hop flavor in layers from the continual hopping. Finish: Hop-forward yet balanced for its 60 IBU — layered, not punishing.

How to Enjoy

Drink it fresh and cold, poured into a glass to open the hop aromatics. It is the classic burger, wings and sharp-cheddar IPA — built for food as much as for hop heads.
