From Conecuh Ridge Moonshine to a Double-Gold Bourbon
Clyde May was an Alabama farmer and World War II veteran — 77th Infantry, Purple Heart — who began making whiskey on hand-built copper stills with local grain and spring water in 1946, served a federal sentence for moonshining, and kept making his whiskey until his death in 1990. His son Kenny recreated the family recipe legally in 2001, and in 2004 Clyde May's was named the Official State Spirit of Alabama; the brand's home today is the Conecuh Ridge Distillery in Troy, Alabama. This straight bourbon is the range's classic pour: new-oak aged, non-chill filtered, uncut by Clyde's apple signature, which belongs to the Alabama Style expression. Tasting Notes
Per the brand: a rich crimson colour; a soft, sweet nose of brown sugar, baked apricot, wild strawberry and nutmeg; a soft palate of barrel spice, fruit and oiled leather; a long finish.

Frequently Asked Questions
What proof is Clyde May's Straight Bourbon?
92 proof (46% ABV), bottled non-chill filtered after four to five years in new 53-gallon oak barrels.
Is Clyde May's bourbon distilled in Alabama?
The brand is an Alabama heritage brand whose home is now the Conecuh Ridge Distillery in Troy, Alabama; the brand does not state a distillation state for the current bottling, so we describe the heritage rather than claim a still location.
How is the Straight Bourbon different from Alabama Style?
The Straight Bourbon is a classic new-oak straight bourbon at 92 proof with no apple element. Alabama Style is the separate 85-proof expression finished with a hint of apple — Clyde's original signature.
