Clyde May's Alabama Style Whiskey is a 750mL American whiskey bottled at 85 proof (42.5% ABV), aged four years in oak barrels and finished with a hint of apple — the signature touch Clyde May himself added to his Conecuh County whiskey. It is the original expression of the brand Clyde's son Kenny brought to legal production, in the style the Alabama Legislature honoured when it named Conecuh Ridge the Official State Spirit of Alabama in 2004. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Original: Clyde May's Apple-Finished Style

Clyde May, a World War II veteran farming the Conecuh Ridge country of Alabama, began making whiskey in 1946 and built his name on a flourish of his own: oven-dried apples added to his barrels, rounding the spirit with orchard fruit. The modern Alabama Style — the brand's own trademarked name for the style he invented — keeps that identity as a finish with a hint of apple over four years of oak ageing. In 2004 the Alabama Legislature named Conecuh Ridge Alabama Fine Whiskey the state's official spirit, a designation the brand still claims today. How to Enjoy
