The Stag of Arandas, Aged Three Years and More
Cazadores means "the hunters," and its emblem tells the brand's founding story: in 1922, in Arandas, Don Jose Maria Banuelos perfected his tequila recipe in the red-earth highlands of Jalisco, where stags moved through the blue agave fields — the stag's proud bearing became the symbol on the bottle and, per the brand, the closely guarded recipe passed down by word of mouth until his grandson opened a distillery in the early 1970s to share it. The Extra Anejo is that recipe given its longest rest: at least three years in new American oak, the legal extra anejo floor and beyond, until the highland agave's brightness deepens into vanilla, spice and roasted fruit. See the Blanco through Anejo range on the Cazadores vendor page and in our tequila collection.
Tasting Notes
Per the producer: a deep gold colour, with vanilla flavour alongside cinnamon, roasted apple and nutmeg — the new-oak spice and baked fruit of a long highland maturation over the agave beneath.
How to Enjoy
Neat in a stemmed glass — an extra anejo built for the end of a meal, not for mixing down — though it makes a decadent tequila Old Fashioned when the occasion argues for it. More extra anejos wait in our tequila collection and across our spirits collection.
