Ten Months, Two Oaks
Reposado can legally be bottled after two months; Cava Antigua holds its reposado for ten, split between American white oak and French oak, and the extra seasons show in the glass — this is a reposado that pours closer to an anejo's register while keeping the agave audible. The spirit underneath is classically made: autoclave-cooked agave, roller-mill extraction, stainless-tank fermentation and double distillation in stainless pot stills at La Querencia, the Los Magos factory in Tlajomulco de Zuniga where Gustavo Romero's 1995 brand is produced. Try the unaged and longer-aged siblings on the Cava Antigua vendor page and in our tequila collection.
Tasting Notes
Per the producer's official notes: gold hues and light amber with a medium-to-full body; an aroma of chamomile, white chocolate, dried prunes, vanilla, stone-cooked agave, almonds and lightly toasted oak; a palate of caramelized apple and cinnamon; and a very smooth, bittersweet finish of agave and balanced wood.
How to Enjoy
Neat first — ten months in two oaks earns a straight pour — then in a reposado Margarita where the caramelized apple and cinnamon have something to play against. More reposados are in our tequila collection and across our spirits collection.
