Cantera Negra Coffee Liqueur — sold by the brand as Cantera Negra Café — is the dark, silky outlier of the Jalisco range: 20% ABV (40 proof), 750mL, a coffee liqueur blended with 100% pure blue agave spirit, hand-crafted in small batches. Rich and decadent, with hazelnut and dark stone fruit under the coffee, it drinks like dessert and mixes like a modifier. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

  • ABV: 20% (40 proof)
  • Size: 750mL
  • Base: 100% blue agave spirit blended with coffee

  • Production: Hand-crafted in small batches

The Black Quarry's Coffee

Cantera Negra — "black quarry" — takes its name from the black volcanic rock in the soil of its Jalisco agave fields, and its Café applies the same small-batch hand to a different raw material: coffee, blended into the family's 100% blue agave spirit. The result is one of the very few agave-based coffee liqueurs in the US market, positioned by the importer as rich and silky with a whisper of smoke — a bottle that sits as naturally beside the liqueurs as it does next to the family's tequilas. See the whole range on the Cantera Negra vendor page.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Fresh coffee with roasted nuts and a hint of smoke. Palate: Decadent and coffee-forward — baked agave sweetness, hazelnut, dark stone fruit, walnut and honey with baking spice. Finish: Smooth and silky, the coffee and agave resolving together.

How to Enjoy

The essential Espresso Martini upgrade — swap it for the standard coffee liqueur and the agave base adds depth. It is also a natural over ice after dinner, in a White Russian riff, or poured over vanilla ice cream.

Love it!!

Tried this at a beer/wine/mixed drinks tasting event and even though I hate coffee I love this drink. It’s on ice or poured on top of vanilla ice cream. Also thinking about mixing it with salted caramel Bailey’s.
