Camarena Reposado Tequila is a 40% ABV (80 proof), 750mL reposado from Familia Camarena in Arandas, in the Los Altos Highlands of Jalisco — 100% Blue Weber agave from high-elevation, mineral-rich red-clay fields, double distilled and rested 60 days in American oak barrels (the brand's current site specifies Tennessee whiskey barrels). Sixty days is a light, deliberate rest: soft vanilla and caramel over the agave's natural sweetness. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

Six Generations in Arandas

The Camarena family co-founded the town of Arandas two and a half centuries ago and brings six generations of tequila-making to this bottle — agave growers first, they bottled under their own name in 1938, and sixth-generation Mauricio Camarena oversaw the farming when Familia Camarena launched in the US in 2010 with E. & J. Gallo. The tequila is produced at the family's Arandas distillery, bottled, labelled and packaged by hand. "Reposado means 'to rest'" is the brand's own framing, and theirs rests just 60 days — enough oak to soften and sweeten, never enough to cover the highland agave. Meet the family on the Camarena vendor page, start unaged with the Camarena Silver, or browse the tequila collection.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Pale wheat-gold. Nose: Sweet toasted agave with soft spice, vanilla and brown sugar. Palate: Silky and medium-bodied — natural agave sweetness balanced with soft vanilla and caramel from the barrel. Finish: Smooth, with lingering vanilla, caramel and a pleasant tingling spice.

How to Enjoy

The brand pours it straight, in a Margarita or in a Paloma — the 60-day rest makes it the rare reposado that works all three ways without losing its agave core.
