At hazmat strength the rum esters hit like a wave: the official release notes describe a nose of dense, prickly Jamaican-rum funk — orange flower water, buttercup and vanilla, a strong waxy side, a whiff of petrichor — blooming into pineapple, passionfruit and strawberry. The palate echoes the floral opening with matcha, rosehip and clove; fresh sugarcane and molasses highlight the rum, hints of burnt popcorn and roasted peanut reveal the cereal origin, and it grows more tropical on the tongue — lychee, kiwi, honeydew melon.
