Bacardi Reserva Ocho Rum is a 750mL rum bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof), aged for a minimum of eight years under the Caribbean sun in Puerto Rico. "Ocho" is the eight. It is based on a family recipe from 1862 and was the Bacardi family's private reserve blend — kept solely for the family for seven generations, and described as one of the oldest private rum blends in the world. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Family's Private Blend, After Seven Generations

Most drinkers never saw Ocho for most of its life: blended from a family recipe dating to 1862, it was poured only inside the Bacardi family for seven generations before wider release. A minimum of eight Caribbean years gives it the deep, mellow character that made it the house reserve — and the middle rung of the modern aged range, between Cuatro and Diez. See the house on the Bacardi vendor page, or browse our full rum collection.

Tasting Notes

Per Bacardi: prune, apricot, nutmeg, and vanilla over a clean oaky background; smooth, rich, and full with a long finish — the house shorthand is "deep and mellow."

How to Enjoy

On its own or neat in a snifter, or in classics the brand suggests, such as an Old Cuban or a Rum Old Fashioned. The rest of the aged ladder is in our rum collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Was Bacardi Ocho really created in 1862?
It is based on a family recipe from 1862 and was the Bacardi family's private blend for seven generations — that recipe-and-private-blend framing is the accurate claim, not a commercial product launched in 1862.

How long is Reserva Ocho aged?
A minimum of eight years — "Ocho" is Spanish for eight.

What does Bacardi Ocho taste like?
Prune, apricot, nutmeg, and vanilla over clean oak — deep and mellow, with a long finish.
