Armand de Brignac Ace of Spades Brut Gold is the flagship cuvée of the Ace of Spades range — 12.5% ABV, 750mL, a multi-vintage Champagne blended from 50% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Meunier (half harvest-year wine, half two reserve vintages) at a dosage of 9 g/L. First released in 2006, it comes in the iconic gold-metalised bottle, hand-finished with French pewter labels and presented in a lacquered wooden gift box. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Original Ace of Spades

Brut Gold was the first Armand de Brignac released in 2006, and the gold bottle became one of the most recognisable objects in wine: metal-coated, pewter-labelled and polished entirely by hand by the Cattier family, who have farmed 33 hectares around Chigny-les-Roses, Rilly-la-Montagne and Ludes for more than 250 years. Inside is a classic prestige recipe executed strictly — only the first portion of the press, a trio of vintages in every blend, and a dosage wine aged a year in new French oak for its pastry-vanilla signature. Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter, an owner since the early years, brought Moët Hennessy in as 50/50 partner in 2021. Tasting Notes

Nose: Warm brioche, ripe stone fruit and citrus blossom (current official notes). Palate: Peach, apricot and lemon zest with vanilla and acacia honey, rich yet balanced. Finish: Fresh and long.

How to Enjoy

Well chilled as the celebration pour it was designed to be — or with caviar, oysters, butter-poached lobster or aged Comté, the house's own table pairings.

What grapes are in Brut Gold? Per the current official specification, 50% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Meunier, blended from a harvest-year wine and two reserve vintages.

Who owns Armand de Brignac? The brand is a 50/50 partnership between Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter and Moët Hennessy (LVMH) since February 2021; the wine itself is produced by the Cattier family in the Montagne de Reims.
