One Source, One Village — Ahus
Absolut's official philosophy is "One Source": one community, one small village in the south of Sweden. Everything happens within about 75 miles of Ahus — the winter wheat comes from some 400 farmers across Skane, the water from a local deep well, and production and bottling stay in and around the village. The method is older than the brand's famous bottle: in 1879 Lars Olsson Smith, whose portrait medallion the bottle still carries, introduced continuous distillation with Absolut Rent Brannvin, refining the spirit far beyond the three or four passes of the day; Absolut itself was relaunched from that recipe a century later, in 1979. Tasting Notes
The brand describes Absolut as rich, full-bodied, and complex yet smooth and mellow, with a distinct grain character followed by a hint of dried fruit.
How to Enjoy
Serve ice-cold in a Martini or Moscow Mule, or keep it Swedish-simple with soda and lime. Its full-bodied grain character also stands up in a Bloody Mary. More cocktail bases are in our spirits collection.
