Aberfeldy 21 Year Old Scotch Whisky
Aberfeldy 21 Year Old is a 750mL Highland single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof), drawn from a rare collection of casks aged for 21 years and longer — rich sherry casks, vanilla- and honey-laden bourbon casks, refill casks and spicy re-char casks in harmony. It comes from Aberfeldy Distillery in Perthshire, the heart malt of Dewar's, where the Pitilie Burn — famed for its deposits of alluvial gold — gives the house whisky its "Golden Dram" nickname and its signature heather-honey depth. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

Two Decades in the Golden Dram's Casks
The Dewar brothers built Aberfeldy in 1896 and it entered production in 1898, a short walk from John Dewar's birthplace on the southern bank of the upper River Tay. Most of its spirit still flows into Dewar's blends as the heart malt, which makes the single malts the distillery's rarest window on the house style: 100% malted barley, a long fermentation of around 70 hours that conjures the honeyed notes, and time — in the 21's case, casks of a quality and age the brand itself calls rare. Malt Master Stephanie Macleod oversees the range, and the brand states Aberfeldy has been awarded over 200 gold medals in total. Tasting Notes
Per the distillery: floral heather honey and creamy intensity, with dried fruits and toasted coconut up front; the palate is a treasure hunt for that honey — creamy macadamia nuts and chewy beeswax, plush with orange, dried fruits, toasted coconut and silky oak, and just a trace of smoke.
How to Enjoy
Neat in a tulip glass, with a few drops of water to open the honey and dried fruit — a whisky this soft and layered asks for no ice and no mixer. More aged Highland malts are in our whisky collection.
