2 Towns Ciderhouse BrightCider is a 6% ABV hard cider in a 6-pack of 12oz cans, made in Corvallis, Oregon from a blend of Newtown Pippin heirloom apples and other Northwest varieties. Per the producer, it is cold-fermented to hold onto the aromatics of the heirloom fruit — a tribute to American heritage cider with a modern Northwest twist. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Cider Named for Two College Towns

2 Towns was launched in 2010 by Lee Larsen of Corvallis and Aaron Sarnoff-Wood of Eugene — the "2 Towns" of the name — from test batches in a basement and a debut at Larsen's wedding, and it has grown into what the company describes as Oregon's largest craft cider producer. BrightCider is its heritage pour: the Newtown Pippin, the pioneer variety that defined the Northwest cider palate (and earned Thomas Jefferson's praise in France, in the producer's telling), cold-fermented until it shines. Tasting Notes

Nose: Fresh heirloom apple aromatics, kept bright by the cold ferment. Palate: Radiant and balanced, in the producer's words — clean apple fruit with a modern Northwest snap. Finish: Crisp and refreshing.

How to Enjoy

Serve it cold, straight from the can or poured into a glass to show off the aromatics. It is the cider to hand someone who thinks cider is sweet — this one drinks bright and balanced.
