Kilchoman Sanaig Cask Strength Scotch Whisky 2024
Kilchoman Sanaig Cask Strength Scotch Whisky 2024 is Islay's farm distillery at full power: the sherry-led Sanaig recipe bottled uncut at its natural cask strength of 57.8% ABV — and it is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.
Kilchoman — founded 2005 on Rockside Farm, Islay's only farm distillery — built Sanaig from roughly 70% Oloroso sherry casks (from the José y Miguel Martín bodega) and 30% ex-bourbon barrels. For this limited 2024 edition, the vatting was bottled with no water added: non-chill filtered, natural color, 50 ppm peat — the purest read of Kilchoman's fruity-smoky signature.
Tasting notes: toffee sweetness, dark fruits, red berries, and smoked oak on the nose; intense sweetness, spiced dark chocolate, raisins, and liquorice with warming rich peat smoke on the palate; lingering sweetness and spice with integrated smoke on the long finish.
Why buy the Cask Strength? Because Sanaig's sherry-and-smoke balance is already a modern Islay classic — at 57.8% it's that classic with the volume turned all the way up. Compare with other scotch whisky, explore the Kilchoman brand collection, and browse all whisky.
Serving note: neat first, then add water to taste — a few drops open the dark fruit and soften the peat.
