The Pinnacle of Hall's Estate

Kathryn Hall is the wine that represents the very best of Hall Wines — a flagship Napa Valley cabernet built from estate fruit farmed with organic small-vine viticulture, wild-yeast fermentation, and micro-block blending. The 2017 is deep, dark ruby and elegantly balanced: Wine Advocate called it "full, rich, spicy and seductive with a velvety texture and seamless freshness, finishing long and perfumed," while Wine Spectator found it "delightfully ripe, with succulent blackberry, plum and cassis flavors." A 96-point expression of Napa cabernet at its most pedigreed — the bottle Hall's entire reputation is built on.

Tasting Notes

Nose: concentrated blackberry, freshly turned earth, warm spicy oak — with spice cake, potpourri, Ceylon tea, and incense over black currant cordial and black forest cake (Wine Advocate). Palate: fruit-forward with rich cocoa and leather under the surface; succulent blackberry, plum, and cassis carried by a well-buried graphite edge. Finish: long and perfumed, with licorice and violet chiming in.

How to Enjoy

Decant up to three hours and serve at 60–65°F. This is a full, rich vintage built for red meat — grilled lamb chops, beef preparations, venison — and for the cellar; it has the structure to evolve through the mid-2030s. A trophy bottle for collectors and a benchmark Napa gift.
