Goza Reposado Tequila
Goza Reposado Tequila is an 80 proof (40% ABV), 750mL reposado made from 100% Weber blue agave and aged 6 months in white oak whiskey barrels. "Goza" Means Enjoy — Atlanta's Tequila, Refined by Whiskey Minds
Goza started in 2015 as Atlanta's first tequila company, founded by two friends, Jacob Gluck and Adam Hirsch, who named it for the Spanish verb "to enjoy." In April 2023 it was acquired by two whiskey veterans — Paul Hletko of FEW Spirits and Dave Schmier of Proof & Wood (formerly Redemption Rye) — who brought serious barrel-management know-how and a single-barrel program to the brand. The reposado benefits directly: six months in white oak whiskey barrels, applied with the care of people who age whiskey for a living. Bottle artwork comes from pop artist Burton Morris. The current production is NOM 1618 in Jalisco; older bottles carried NOM 1479.
Tasting Notes
The nose shows caramel, vanilla, and honey-oak. The palate is complex, smooth, and bold — agave sweetness wrapped in whiskey-barrel warmth — with a clean finish. The barrel influence is present but balanced; the agave still leads.
How to Enjoy
Sip neat to appreciate the whiskey-barrel polish, or make it the base of an elevated tequila old fashioned — the caramel and vanilla are built for it. It also plays well against other Highland bottlings; see the GOZA Tequila Blanco for the unaged version of the same agave.
