The Sassenach Wild Scottish Gin
The Sassenach Wild Scottish Gin is Sam Heughan's love letter to his Galloway homeland — a 42% ABV (84 proof) 750mL London Dry gin, small-batch copper-pot distilled in Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland, from wild botanicals the Outlander star foraged himself. Juniper, rhubarb, heather, Scots pine resin, bramble leaf, blaeberry, crab apple, and toasted oats capture the rugged south-west Scottish landscape — and the 42% bottling strength was deliberately chosen so the gin stands up in cocktails. Available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

Foraged by an Outlander
Heughan didn't just lend his face — he walked the Galloway hills gathering the botanicals himself: rhubarb and crab apple from the orchards, heather and blaeberry from the moors, pine resin from the forests. It's a rare celebrity spirit that's genuinely craft — small-batch distilled in copper pot stills, built at a cocktail-proof 42% because, as Heughan told Drinks Business, the gin had to "stand up in cocktails." Tasting Notes
The Daily Pour (88 points) finds juniper, honey, berries, citrus, and a hint of minerality and char on the nose; juniper first on the palate with lime citrus, light char, tons of fruit, and a hint of creamy sweetness; and a long Fuji-apple, pear, and lime finish with cream and minerality. Secret Bottle Shop notes apple, citrus, and soft florals opening into juniper, rhubarb, crab apple, and wild heather, finishing crisp and clean with subtle spice and lingering orchard fruit.
How to Enjoy
The foraged fruit character begs for a premium tonic with a big slice of apple or a sprig of heather. It also makes a superb Negroni — the pine and heather play beautifully against bitter aperitivo.
