Foursquare Exceptional Cask Selection: Mark XXX "Penultimus" is a 15 Year Double Maturation Single Blended Rum from Foursquare Rum Distillery in Barbados — distilled in both the copper Double-Retort Pot Still and the Continuous Twin Column Coffey Still of Foursquare, then aged for 10 years in Ex-Bourbon barrels before being transferred into Ex-Moscatel barrels for an additional 5 years.
All aging, blending, and bottling occurs entirely on-site at Foursquare Rum Distillery in Barbados. Bottled at 57% ABV — 114 Proof. Released December 2025.
Foursquare Rum Distillery was re-opened by the Seale family in 1996. Distilling operations and blending are currently directed by Richard Seale, the 4th Generation of R.L. Seale & Co (est. 1926). - Initial Impressions: A big and punchy expression with significant notes of light and bright tropicals, citrus, and layers of rich dark fruit — a very full palate experience that ends extremely subtle with nice complexity and still retaining delicate nuances
- Aroma: Bright and citrusy up front with notes of caramelized orange peel and nougat, followed by an array of baking spices: nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice — rounding out with a rich caramel undertone but still holding a bright green tropical note of honeydew and kiwi
- Palate: Round and bright with explosions of citrus and fruit character along the way — notes of white peach, lychee, and rich dark fruits, the counterpoint of flavors is incredible. Great structure and complexity overall, finishing with a hint of dryness
