A Brazilian Pineapple in an Irish Still
The Shed Distillery was founded in Drumshanbo by PJ Rigney in 2014, and its Gunpowder Irish Gin — "twelve botanicals, nine countries, one curious adventure" — became an Irish classic when the flagship launched in 2016. For this edition, Rigney brought back the abacaxi, a locally prized Brazilian pineapple he found in Natal during Carnival: refreshingly sweet and tangy, it is vapor-infused with grapefruit and lime alongside the signature oriental botanicals and gunpowder tea. Every bottle is hand-filled, labeled and sealed at The Shed. The Pineapple edition joins the Sardinian Citrus and Californian Orange Citrus as flavored Gunpowder variants, and it took Silver at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in April 2025, per the US importer Palm Bay International.
