Don Nacho Extra Premium Blanco Tequila is a 40% ABV (80 proof), 750mL blanco from Fabrica de Tequila Don Nacho (NOM 1508) in Arandas, in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco — 100% blue Weber agave grown on the family's own estate, cooked in stone and brick ovens, fermented in stainless steel and double distilled in stainless pot stills, then bottled unaged. The house, headed by Ignacio Hernandez Gutierrez — Don Nacho himself — states an all-natural production practice with no added chemicals. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

A Highland Grower's Blanco

Some tequila brands are built by marketers; Don Nacho was built by a grower. The family organised its agave company in 1982 and opened its own tequila factory in Arandas in 2003, bottling the fruit of its Los Altos estate under the name of its head, Ignacio Hernandez Gutierrez. Arandas' red highland soils produce some of Jalisco's most aromatic agave, and the Extra Premium blanco is the clearest way to taste it: no oak, no age, double distilled and bottled as it comes off the still. See the house on the Don Nacho Tequila vendor page, or browse the full tequila shelf for more highland blancos.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Very floral, with bright lemon and lime citrus and hints of vanilla and coconut (retailer notes). Palate: Delicate and clean — sweet estate agave under the citrus, with a herbaceous, cooked-agave depth. Finish: Long and clean.

How to Enjoy

Built for a proper Margarita or Paloma, where an unaged highland blanco's brightness does the work. For sipping, serve it lightly chilled with a pinch of sal de gusano on the side, highland style.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Don Nacho tequila made? In Arandas, Jalisco, at Fabrica de Tequila Don Nacho (NOM 1508), from 100% blue Weber agave estate-grown in the Los Altos highlands.

What does Extra Premium mean here? It is the name of Don Nacho's core line — the house bottling made from 100% estate agave, double distilled, with the family's stated all-natural, no-added-chemicals production practice.

Is blanco tequila aged? No — a blanco is bottled unaged or after only a brief rest in inert vessels, which keeps it clear and puts the agave flavour first.
