Don Alberto Anejo Tequila is the oak-aged expression of the Don Alberto house — 40% ABV (80 proof), 750mL, distilled from 100% Blue Weber agave at NOM 1477 in Jalisco, Mexico and rested in oak until it pours a deep golden amber, softening the agave with vanilla and dried fruit. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

An Anejo Built on Agave First

Don Alberto is a small, low-profile house, and its anejo is made the slow way: estate-style Blue Weber agave cooked in stone and brick ovens, roller-milled, fermented in stainless tanks and run twice through stainless steel pot stills, then given a full oak rest that turns it golden amber and layers vanilla, toasted oak and dried fruit over the cooked-agave core. Nothing about the profile is rushed or sweetened into a liqueur — it stays a sipping anejo. Set it beside the house's younger bottling in our anejo tequila selection, browse the wider tequila range, or see the producer on the Don Alberto vendor page.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Cooked agave with oak and vanilla. Palate: Velvety and warm — vanilla, toasted oak and dried fruits (stone fruit, fig and a light caramel edge) over the agave. Finish: Long and smooth, the oak spice settling gently.

How to Enjoy

Neat in a wide-bowled glass is the way this anejo was made to be drunk — give it a few minutes of air and the dried-fruit side opens up. It also makes a rich Anejo Old Fashioned, where the vanilla and oak do the work sugar usually does.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is Don Alberto Anejo aged? The producer does not publish a duration for this bottling, so none is claimed here — it is a fully oak-rested anejo, past the one-year legal minimum for the class, with the deep golden colour to show for it.

Where is Don Alberto tequila made? In Jalisco, Mexico, at NOM 1477, from 100% Blue Weber agave — the distillery of record for that NOM is named differently across sources (Tequilera Puerta de Hierro near El Arenal in the Tequila Valley, per CWSpirits), and the bottle's label is the final word.

How is an anejo different from a reposado? An anejo rests in oak for at least a year — longer than a reposado's two to twelve months — which trades fresh agave brightness for vanilla, toasted oak and dried-fruit depth.
