Long Beach's Coffee Porter, Imperial Strength
Beachwood grew out of the Seal Beach barbecue restaurant opened in 2006, becoming a full Long Beach brewpub in 2011 when co-founders Gabe Gordon and Lena Perelman partnered with brewmaster Julian Shrago. Mocha Machine arrived in 2014 and immediately took a Bronze Medal at that year's World Beer Cup in the Coffee Beer category. Its formula is a malt bill split between British and German traditions, a full coffee infusion, and a rest on cacao nibs that pushes it toward liquid fudge. Find it in our craft beer range, browse our stouts and porters, or visit the Beachwood Brewing vendor page.
Tasting Notes
Character: The producer promises large aromatics and rich flavour — coffee up front, then a deep fudge-like depth from the cacao nibs. Palate: Imperial weight softened by lactose, built on British and German malts. Finish: Roast and chocolate in balance at 9.2%.
How to Enjoy
Serve at 50–55°F and let the coffee and cacao open as it warms. It drinks like dessert on its own and pairs naturally with chocolate cake, tiramisu or a scoop of vanilla ice cream floated straight in the glass.
