The Coupe: Three Centuries in One Blend
For its 300th birthday the house of Rémy Martin did something it only does on the big anniversaries: cellar master Baptiste Loiseau drew on the Réserve Perpétuelle — a solera-like reserve of exceptional Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie set aside by generations of cellar masters — and enriched the blend with the anniversary coupes of the past, including the 290th and the 275th. The carafe echoes the 250th Anniversary Coupe of 1974, its embossed lines tracing the forward motion of the centaur’s javelin. Each of the 6,724 bottles is individually numbered and comes with Loiseau’s note and a QR code unlocking the story behind the blend.
Tasting Notes
Luminous amber in the glass. The nose opens with radiance and directness — candied orange, passion fruit, sandalwood, leather, mixed spice, undergrowth and a hint of floral, with rancio that keeps its freshness. The palate is a firework: candied and exotic fruits, fig, nuts, discreet oak, elegance and tension, and a very long finish with refined, persistent freshness.
