  • Heritage: named for the 1738 Accord Royal — King Louis XV’s grant to Rémy Martin to plant new vineyards

Born From the Cask, Crowned by a King

1738 Accord Royal exists because of a royal favour: fourteen years after Rémy Martin planted his first vineyard, King Louis XV — impressed by the cognac — granted him an Accord Royal, the exclusive right to plant new vines. The house honours that moment with a cognac built around oak: eaux-de-vie from Grande and Petite Champagne aged in toasted French Limousin casks, giving an exceptionally smooth, distinctively oaky profile of butterscotch, baked spice and dark chocolate. The 300th Anniversary edition dresses it for the tricentenary year with a festive neck collar and a celebration box traced with gold javelins in the shape of the Centaur.

Tasting Notes

Generous plum and fig jam on the nose, rounded out with intense oaky notes of toffee and toasted bread. The palate is exceptionally round — butterscotch, baked spices, dark chocolate and vanilla, with concentrated nuttiness from the toasted-oak aging. Creamy, lingering aftertaste.

How to Enjoy

Neat or on the rocks to let the oak show. It is also the richer, more structured Rémy Martin for cocktails — a Sidecar or a cognac old fashioned built on 1738 has real backbone.
