Bladnoch 30 Year Old Scotch Whisky
Bladnoch 30 Year Old Scotch Whisky is a 45.5% ABV (91 proof), 700mL Lowland single malt — distilled in 1990 at Bladnoch Distillery in Dumfries and Galloway, matured in just two sherry casks, one Oloroso and one Moscatel, non-chill filtered and bottled at natural colour by Master Distiller Dr Nick Savage. Fewer than 1,000 bottles were released worldwide. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.
Bladnoch is Scotland's most southerly distillery — the "Queen of the Lowlands," founded in 1817 on the banks of the River Bladnoch and revived by owner David Prior, with production resumed in 2017 for its 200th anniversary. The 30 Year Old is the distillery's twilight masterpiece: three decades in two exceptional sherry casks, bottled as the final release of its era.
Tasting profile: dried apricots, florals, nutmeg and Seville orange on the nose; velvety almonds and marzipan with Seville orange on the palate; a surprisingly light, floral, fruity finish with a crack of black pepper. Serving note: neat, with a few drops of water to open the sherry-cask fruit.
