Barrell Whiskey Infinite Barrel Project is Barrell Craft Spirits' ever-evolving cask-strength blend, bottled at a different strength for every release in 750mL. Honoring the home-bar infinity bottle tradition at scale, selected barrels are blended into one large "infinite" vessel; each bottling removes a portion and replaces it with new barrels chosen to enhance what remains — so no two bottlings taste alike. Order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

  • ABV/Proof: Cask strength — varies by bottling (documented 58.22%–63.61%); check the bottle's front label for the bottling date and batch ABV
  • Size: 750mL
  • Age: No age statement
  • Production: Blend of whisk(e)y types — the inaugural bottling married Tennessee whiskey, Tennessee rye, Indiana whiskey, Polish malted rye, Scotch, and Irish whiskey; later bottlings fold in Tennessee and Kentucky bourbons; Barrell Craft Spirits, Louisville, KY (founded 2013 by Joe Beatrice; Master Distiller Tripp Stimson)
  • Concept: An "infinity vessel," not solera — each batch intentionally distinct

A Solera in Reverse

Barrell explicitly distinguishes the Infinite Barrel Project from solera: where solera chases consistency, this project chases difference — "a unique blend for every bottling." Launched in February 2018, it complements Barrell's award-winning numbered batch releases, and the company publishes each batch's component whisk(e)ys keyed to the bottling date. Typical retail sits around $70, and 19+ distinct bottlings have released since 2018. Explore Barrell Craft Spirits or our American whiskey collection.

Tasting Notes

WhiskyCast's review of Batch #1 (59.65%, 91 points) found a complex, spicy nose of dried fruits, charred oak, vanilla, honey, and roasted almonds; a thick, intense palate of clove, cinnamon, and allspice balanced by honey, vanilla, and oak tannins; and a very long, warm, smooth finish with gently fading spices. Expect each bottling to differ.

How to Enjoy

Drink neat to meet the blend on its own terms — cask strength means a drop of water is your friend. Collectors often buy sequential bottlings to compare how the infinite vessel evolves.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Infinite Barrel Project?
Barrell's ongoing blend where each bottling draws from and feeds back into one large "infinite" blending vessel — every bottling is a unique blend.

What proof is it?
It is always cask strength, but the ABV changes with every bottling — read the bottling date off the front label.

Is this like a solera?
Barrell says no: solera aims for consistency, while this project is deliberately asymmetrical and unpredictable.

What whiskeys go into it?
Batch #1 blended seven-to-nine whisk(e)y types from four countries; later bottlings fold in Tennessee and Kentucky bourbons plus Scotch and Irish whiskies.
