Barrell Bourbon Vantage is a 57.22% ABV (114.44 proof), 750mL cask-strength blend of straight bourbon whiskeys, distilled in Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee and finished in three distinct virgin-oak casks — Mizunara, French, and toasted American oak — each component finished separately, then systematically combined to build a multidimensional blend. Launched in 2022 as an ongoing portfolio release, it earned Whisky Advocate's #3 spot in the Top 20 Whiskies of 2022 with 95 points. Available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

Three Oaks, One Vantage Point

"A bourbon dedicated to the arts of barrel selection and blending," in founder Joe Beatrice's words — Vantage treats each wood as a flavor instrument. Mizunara brings incense and grilled pineapple on the nose; French oak adds tarragon, nutmeg, and warm cola; toasted American oak lays down crème brûlée, coconut oil, and chocolate pudding. Shop the full Barrell Craft Spirits lineup and more cask-strength bourbon.

Tasting Notes

Burnt sienna in the glass. The nose moves between crème brûlée and chocolate pudding (American oak), tarragon and warm cola (French oak), and incense with grilled pineapple (Mizunara). The palate is sweet and oily with pronounced espresso and maple syrup; the finish runs green grapes, red plums, za'atar, crystallized ginger, and Szechuan peppercorns.

How to Enjoy

Neat or with a measured splash of water at cask strength — it rewards slow sipping. Do not confuse with Barrell Toasted Vantage, a separate 2024 limited release.
