Ardbeg Smokiverse Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the 2025 Ardbeg Day special: a 48.3% ABV (96.6 proof), non-age-statement Islay single malt, matured in ex-bourbon barrels, non-chill-filtered with no added colour — and it is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

Smokiverse marks 25 years of the Ardbeg Committee, the distillery's fiercely loyal fan club — and it is a genuine first for Ardbeg. The whisky was made with high-gravity mashing, a process that uses less water and more malt to create a denser, sugar-rich wort, supercharging the fruity esters produced during fermentation. The result layers tropical sweetness over the classic Islay peat punch Ardbeg is famous for. It is a one-time, limited production with individually numbered bottles.

Tasting notes: smoked bubblegum, ripening barley, and toasted sourdough on the nose, with sweet peat smoke and tropical fruit emerging with water; a creamy, full palate of creosote, anise, and clove behind muscovado-sugar sweetness, oak, and leather; a long, earthy finish of peat moss and bonfire embers.

Why buy Smokiverse? Because it is the landmark 25th-anniversary Ardbeg Committee release and the first Ardbeg ever made with high-gravity mashing — a one-time bottling that will never be repeated. Browse the Ardbeg brand collection, more Scotch whisky, and other international spirits.

Serving note: best neat to catch the peat-and-tropical-fruit interplay; a splash of water opens the sweeter side.

What is high-gravity mashing? Mashing with less water and more malt creates a denser, sugar-rich wort that produces more flavor-active esters during fermentation — the first time Ardbeg has used the technique.

Is Ardbeg Smokiverse age-stated? No — it is a non-age-statement release matured in ex-bourbon casks.

When was Smokiverse released? Ardbeg Day, May 31, 2025, during Fèis Ìle; it is a one-time limited production with individually numbered bottles.

Is it chill-filtered? No — non-chill-filtered with natural colour, at 48.3% ABV.
