The Mundial Collection is Master Distiller Carlos Camarena's (now with Jenny Camarena) limited series pairing El Tesoro añejo with distillers from renowned distilleries worldwide — prior editions featured Knob Creek and Basil Hayden; Yamazaki is the first Japanese whisky cask edition, uniting Camarena with Shinji Fukuyo, the House of Suntory's fifth-generation chief blender. Distilled at La Alteña (NOM 1139) — named Tequila Distillery of the Year 2021 by the International Spirits Challenge — from 100% Blue Weber agave. Per eltesorotequila.com: gold and bright in the glass; aromatic agave, minerals, oak, dried fruits, nuts, honey, delicate florals, and fresh tobacco on the nose. The palate shows mineral, toasted almonds, pecans, raw honey, balanced bitterness, warm spices, sherry notes, toasted coffee beans, and dark chocolate — finishing long and lingering with sherry, red berries, seasoned oak, clove, and pepper.
